The problem
The problem that I managed to reveal in great detail affects not only ordinary people but also executives and congressmen. I refer to the constant traffic jammed in the morning and in the afternoon when the work day is over. Every time I see such heavy traffic on archer road or in my hometown here in Colombia, I can see that people who drive by car take approximately 30 more minutes going a couple of blocks more to get to work. In the same way, the stress of the traffic jams and the anxiety of punctuality has led drivers to get up hours earlier than normal to be able to meet work hours on time.
The solution
The solution that I had in mind and planned to execute mainly in Colombia where spliting the line is legal, is an application that would work like Uber but this would have a very different characteristic. The means of transportation. Before presenting my idea, I would like to show you a bit of context information which clarifies the idea a little more and I have great knowledge since I am part of this group that I will mention below. In Colombia, traffic jams make us waste a lot of time, however, I own a motorcycle which is perfect for getting around at this time since it significantly cuts the daily commute to work. What occurred to me is that people order their transportation service but instead of requiring a car, a motorcycle is required which is able to get into the gaps between the lanes and thus save a lot of time to work and not be subject to stress due to sleep or lateness. However, this application was already being developed before this pandemic and another group of people already came up with this idea, but what I want to do is take it to states in which this type of activities such as splitting the line is legal.
Hey Javier, I think the idea for a motorcycle-based uber service is great. However, since motorcycles can only fit two people (the driver and one other individual), this may not work for groups who wish to commute to work together, or individuals who need to carries a briefcase or computer to work. I think with some product manipulation and development, this can turn into a great service. Good luck with the rest of the course!
ReplyDeleteHello Javier,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post! This is a great idea for cities that experience traffic jams on the daily. It is a great idea because a motorcycle definitely takes up less space than a car. If more people prefer to take motorcycles instead of car ride-sharing, then there can be a decrease in traffic. As Janelle mentioned, this invention will specifically benefit one person because of the capacity of the motorcycle. Overall, good job!
Hi Javier,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! I myself have been to a couple other countries and have noticed people riding bikes being able to legally cut the traffic. You are right in that in America it adds to the congestion buy not allowing these bikes to pass cars on the side. Given how used America is to its traffic laws, I think that a change like this would also require new drivers to be taught about the existence of the law.

That's genius, man. I mean that. The marketing strategy practically writes itself. It makes me think of all the times I was going out to meet people and had to deal with long, awkward Uber rides that just felt kinda wasteful. It also helps that pulling up on a motorcycle anywhere is automatically cooler than taking a car. My only question is how you would disinfect the helmet from person to person.
ReplyDeleteJavier,
ReplyDeleteI think this is an amazing idea! Traffic is a huge problem in cities all over the world. This idea can help a large number of people and make cities more efficient. This can also be positive for the enviroment and the air will be cleaner. I support this idea and its great.
